With so many people out there eager to buy your old gold, silver is more of an after thought, and at today's market price of $31.85 per troy ounce it is easy to see why. Gold is hovering in the $1700+ range, so it is obviously more lucrative to sell. However, sterling can actually weigh up to quite a bit of money. I have seen sterling trays that pay up into the thousands of dollars. Flatware (forks, spoons, knives, etc..) can bring quite a bit, too, since it is so heavy. It is true that much of what is out there is plated, but at the prices you could possibly get for it, it can be worthwhile to at least have it assayed. Knowledge is power. And the best news is-we do not charge for that!
We tend to be a bit nostalgic when it comes to flatware and hollow-ware, but let's face it-the pieces can be a huge chore to polish and people rarely entertain with them today. Most of us are far too busy to give it a second thought. Of course, lugging in totes or boxes full of cobwebbed, tarnished metal that may or may not be sterling from the attic isn't anyone's idea of fun, but it just might pay off. We are also more than happy to look at photos of pieces and their hallmarks via email.

Who We Are. What We Do. Why We Do It.
There is no shortage of people eager to buy your gold. From TV ads to newspaper ads to Google and Bing searches to Facebook ads and banner ads – there certainly is a wealth of buyers to choose from. I don’t know about you, but when I am faced with a number of choices, the process seems a bit more daunting. Who can you trust?
Sure, everyone claims to pay the highest prices, but how are you to know the truth unless you run yourself ragged looking for an honest and fair deal? I’m here to tell you though, that all this competition is very good for you as a consumer. With the price of gold at the highest it has ever been in history, you can pretty much bet that you’re going to get paid well by almost anyone.
Gold Assay is my Mother’s brainchild and she has instilled in me the vision and ethics she holds so dear for it. We are not a pawn shop. We are not a jewelry store. When you enter our store for the first time, you will be pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome you receive; the classical music playing in the background and the education of the entire process ensuring that you make an informed sell, whether it is to us or someone else.
I am in the business of making people very happy. It really is the best job ever. Recycling is good. Getting paid well to do it is ever better. What have you got to lose?
What You Can Expect:
When you come into the store, you can have a seat at our counter and watch us sort through your items. We will sort them into categories depending on the metal and karat. We weigh each category right in front of you and price it according to the day’s market (or London Fix). You can then decide if you want to sell or not – there is no obligation, and our feelings will not be hurt should you decide to price check; in fact, we encourage it. The entire process generally takes about 10 minutes.
If you’re unsure whether something you have is a precious metal, we are honored to look it over for you – even if you have no intention of selling it. There are no stupid questions and certainly no judgments.
We strive to make our store a welcoming and enjoyable place for you to visit.

Just A Little About Us.
A lot goes into running a business. An awful lot goes into running a business with your mother and brother-no, the little pooch is not my brother; that's Delilah and she is at Gold Assay, Inc more times than not. My mother and I moved here from the western part of the state about two years ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Gold Assay, Inc is her brain child and Nate (my brother) and I are her worker bees. My mother is my hero and Nate is, too, for that matter. He is the most stable, kind and smart person I know, but no being is more precious than Delilah. She doesn't warm up well to people, so be careful with those fingers until she gets used to you; I don't think she has a clue how much she looks like a football or how easily she can be punted. I acquired Delilah from my daughter, Megan, who got her for her 10th birthday. Megan is 14 now, so...do I really need to explain that? Okay, for the people out there who don't have teenagers, they tend to forget that their pets still need to be walked, fed and bathed regularly once they gain an active social life.
In case you're wondering-yes, this is a business blog, but I read a ton of boring business blogs every day. I'm sure, in the future, I'll bore you enough with things like what Assay actually means and why we've used it in our business name, or what exactly a troy ounce is, but I'm going to do it as if you're an actual person reading this and not someone who has been in this business for years. The purpose of this blog is for you to get to know us. And that is, simply, that.

Our Commercial.
My mother and I had a lot of fun making this commercial, but oh how times have changed! Neither of us really look like that anymore. Hopefully we'll be making a new one soon, but you know how often we women change!
