What's in your attic?

With so many people out there eager to buy your old gold, silver is more of an after thought, and at today's market price of $31.85 per troy ounce it is easy to see why.  Gold is hovering in the $1700+ range, so it is obviously more lucrative to sell.  However, sterling can actually weigh up to quite a bit of money.  I have seen sterling trays that pay up into the thousands of dollars.  Flatware (forks, spoons, knives, etc..) can bring quite a bit, too, since it is so heavy.  It is true that much of what is out there is plated, but at the prices you could possibly get for it, it can be worthwhile to at least have it assayed.  Knowledge is power.  And the best news is-we do not charge for that!

We tend to be a bit nostalgic when it comes to flatware and hollow-ware,  but let's face it-the pieces can be a huge chore to polish and people rarely entertain with them today.  Most of us are far too busy to give it a second thought.  Of course, lugging in totes or boxes full of cobwebbed, tarnished metal that may or may not be sterling from the attic isn't anyone's idea of fun, but it just might pay off.  We are also more than happy to look at photos of pieces and their hallmarks via email.
